Day 5: Listening/Remembering

Driving T’s car back from Monteclair, CA today I was haunted by a lyric I haven’t heard in a long time that is so fitting for today that it was almost prescient. If you want to be haunted by something at turns lovely, strong, and vulnerable, here’s something for your soul.

I miss you still Andy, and dear Adam, Rich and Kristo, your work still makes a huge difference for me over all these intervening years: thank you.

Here’s the lyric:

“The marketplace has found its fool today
Wanted more
Paid for less
Still my thirst
Dies for your mess

I take away
Useful meaning more
Useful meaning more
Until there’s nothing left…

I will
Breathe again
On my own
On my own
Until there’s nothing left
Until there’s nothing left
Until there’s no one left”
